As a DAO, Sushi is built to be ultimately governed by its community.
Sushi community members can decide, participate and contribute to the project and its future.
Whereas major structural changes are voted on by the community and everyone is welcome to contribute, the day-to-day operations, rebalancing of pools and ratios, business strategy, and overall development are ultimately decided by the core team.
Sushi has a treasury where 10% of SUSHI emissions are sent, to cover expenses and core team salaries.
Compared to some projects, the Sushi treasury is not controlled by on-chain votes.
It uses a gnosis-safe multisig. This means that it is controlled by different signers and to execute an action, the majority of signers needs to agree.
Current signers of the treasury multisig where decided by a community vote in september 2021.
They are: @SBF_Alameda, @rleshner, @0xMaki, @lawmaster, @cmsholdings, @mattysino, @mickhagen, @JiroOno, @zippoxer.
6 signers on 9 need to agree to execute a transaction.
Sushi also has an OPS multisig that is used for day to day operations and expenses. This one is managed by core team only, signers are: @LevxApp, @OmakaseBar, @0xJiro, @0xKeno, @josephdelong, @MatthewLilley.
3 signers on 6 need to agree to execute a transaction.
All important expenses and proposals have to go under community review.
They are posted on the Sushi official forum where anyone can come and comment/propose new ideas. This is an important step in the governance process.
Once proposals have been up on forum for few days/weeks and received enough traction, core team can put it on snapshot.
Snapshot is where Sushi community vote for a proposal, it is an off-chain voting system which means it’s free to vote (no gas fees).
The voting power of users are determined by a contract called Sushi Powah.
Current token taken into account are : ETH-SUSHI LP, xSUSHI in your wallet or in BentoBox/AAVE/Cream/Polygon bridge and MEOWSHI.
More tokens you have more impact your vote will have, but even if you are a small holder, please participate, every votes are important!
